Equipment

  • Large Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Bowl
  • Airtight Container

Ingredients

  • 1 Can (12 oz) Dr. Pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine Dr. Pepper, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and reduced by about one-third.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, you can add cornstarch. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of water until smooth.
  • Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, whisking constantly until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature.
  • Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a glass jar or airtight container and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
