Kansas City BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup  ketchup
  • ¾ cup  brown sugar
  • ½ cup  apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup  molasses
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp ground mustard

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and molasses.
  • Add the smoked paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and ground mustard to the saucepan.
  • Whisk all of the ingredients together until the sauce is smooth and well combined.
  • Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the sauce to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature.
  • Once cooled, transfer the sauce to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
